Serve our Church
Whatever your talents and whatever time you have to spare, there are many ways to help out here at DUMC!
Hospitality
Our Hospitality Ministry was formed to welcome and receive all people into our church home in a warm, friendly, and generous way, creating an environment that encourages them to grow in faith and serve. We are always in need of volunteers to join our Sunday morning Coffee Crew (training provided) or to bake breakfast goodies for the first Sunday of each month.
You can sign up via SignUpGenius or on the sheet in the café.

worship support
There are many opportunities to assist in any of the worship services, such as being an usher or greeter. Greeters are stationed at the main entrance and greet people as they enter the church. Ushers hand out bulletins, assist people to their seats, participate in the receiving of the offering, and direct people to receive Communion. Special questions can be directed to Laurie Lewis (email below).
Audio/Visual/livestream (AVL) Team
Folks on this team can choose from a variety of important duties that help each service and event run smoothly. We need volunteers to advance the ProPresenter slides during all three worship services, adjust the volume on the audio board during services and church events (weddings, funerals, etc.), and assist with setting up and taking down audio equipment for the 9:00 AM Uplifting Service.
Many hands make light work, so please prayerfully consider serving in this vital ministry. If we have enough volunteers, we plan to implement a once-every-six-weeks rotation.

Office & General Volunteer Angels
Volunteers are warmly welcomed! Each week, our Pew Angels straighten the pews and refill the pew pockets, while Flower Angels arrange altar flowers. Many Angels cook meals, bake cakes and cookies, sharpen pencils, prepare children’s worship bags, mail cards, and catalog books.
Other opportunities include visiting the ill or lonely, helping with children’s choirs, gardening, teaching classes, mentoring youth, singing or playing music, and participating in numerous other activities.
If you have special talents or gifts you would like to share with your church family, please drop by the church office and let us know. We will gladly assist you in finding an area of need.
All Angels are deeply appreciated and loved!

Newsletter Angels
The office relies on Newsletter Angels to assemble the monthly newsletter and many other all-church bulk mailings. If you are available to help out, please reach out to Cindy.
Flowers
This ministry allows people to honor someone special or recognize a significant event in their lives by ordering a floral arrangement for the altar. It also includes decorating the altar area and sanctuary for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.
We welcome anyone with experience in floral design or a calling to serve in this area.

Church Work Days
Twice a year, all church members are invited to spend a Saturday afternoon cleaning, repairing, and beautifying the church building and grounds. There are never too many helpers! Dates and times are announced in the spring and fall.
Other Volunteer Opportunities
Student Ministries
Some specific roles we need throughout the year are as follows: Elevation leader, Elevation helper, small group leader, retreat leader/chaperone, mission trip leader/chaperone and drivers for various events (i.e., Road Rally, bowling trip, trampoline park trip, etc…) If you would like to be involved in some aspect, or if you have any questions pertaining to any of the above-mentioned positions, feel free to contact Lenae Baldwin.
Children’s Ministries
We are looking for Sunday School teachers, Kids’ Word teachers, Vacation Bible School crew and station leaders, as well as volunteers for many of our other family-friendly events, such as the Children’s Christmas Celebration, Trunk or Treat, and Easter Eggstravaganza. Our kids are so much fun and incredibly rewarding to serve with. Come give it a try!
