How it all started...
On a blustery April morning in 1838, a Christian gentleman saddled his horse in Philadelphia and began a journey to Allentown. His saddlebags contained a Bible, his sermon manuscripts, and a map. He followed this map to Doylestown, 'a fine county, thickly settled,' where he accepted an invitation from a Presbyterian pastor to use their church as a meeting place. This horseman was Reverend James Hand, and these meetings marked the beginning of Doylestown United Methodist Church, in the building that is now Doylestown Borough Hall.
We continue to grow and prosper as a faith community at our current location, on seven acres of land on Swamp Road. We are a vibrant and active faith community, and we once again expanded our physical church with the opening of our Worship & Youth Center in 2019.
