The Legacy Endowment Fund is a permanent endowment established by DUMC to provide the financial resources needed to support DUMC’s Christian ministries and missions forever. Donations made to the Legacy Endowment Fund will be invested in alignment with Methodist principles and values. As the endowment grows, 3-5% will be used to support DUMC’s annual missions and Kingdom growth activities, while the endowment continues to grow over time.
The Legacy Endowment fund allows each of us the opportunity to foster Kingdom growth long after our time on Earth has ended.
Legacy giving provides individuals with the opportunity to create a lasting legacy in support of the Christian missions that each of us cares about for generations to come. By either providing donations during their lives or by including DUMC in their wills after they pass away, DUMC members can help endow DUMC missions with financial support, effectively paying it forward to grow His Kingdom and strengthen our faith community here at DUMC in perpetuity.
Individuals can make donations to the Legacy Endowment Fund at DUMC annually in the form of cash, stock, insurance policies, real estate, or other valuables. Additionally, families can include DUMC in their estate planning by bequeathing a portion of their estate to the church. These donations will be invested in an endowment managed by the Mid-Atlantic United Methodist Foundation, consistent with Methodist values and principles. As the endowment grows, a portion of the fund will be distributed to DUMC each year to help support Kingdom growth activities and missions at DUMC.
By creating an endowment fund that will be invested and carefully managed, we will be able to provide ongoing support for the missions we believe in, independent of DUMC’s annual budgetary needs, thus ensuring that DUMC’s legacy of service continues forever!
