Our Story
On a blustery April morning in 1838, a Christian gentleman saddled his horse in Philadelphia and began a voyage to Allentown. His saddlebags contained a Bible, his sermon manuscripts and a map. He followed this map to Doylestown, “a fine county, thickly settled”, where he accepted an invitation from a Presbyterian pastor to use their church as a meeting place. This horseman was Reverend James Hand and these meetings were the beginning of Doylestown United Methodist Church, in the building that is now Doylestown Borough Hall.
We continue to grow and prosper as a community of Christ at our current location, on seven acres of land on Swamp Road. We are a vibrant and active community of Christ, and we once again expanded our physical church with the opening of our new Ministries Center in 2019.
