Judy Coleman, 215-345-0797   jcoleman40@verizon.net

The Doylestown United Methodist Church Book Discussion Group reads and discusses books that, while not overtly Christian, offer insight into the world as it exists. This helps us understand how to follow the teachings of Jesus in that world. In selecting titles we attempt to include selections from diverse cultures, different points of view, and a variety of time periods. We welcome new members and are always open to suggestions for good books. We meet on the fourth Sunday  at 7:00pm (except in December or if a public holiday conflicts) in the home of Kathy Kugel, 4 Orchard Lane, Doylestown.

Church Picnic

Roz Bagtaz, 215-348-5224  DUMCkids@gmail.com

The Doylestown United Methodist Church Picnic is held in June at Bush Park. It is a great way to get to know more people in our church family. We have grilled food and entertainment for the kids (and kids at heart). We welcome anyone who would like to help organize the picnic, plan games for the children, arrange food, and help with other details!

Dinner Groups are small groups of eight that meet in each other’s homes for casual dinners throughout the year. The host home provides the entree with the other participants providing the appetizers, salad and dessert. The dinner group provides an excellent opportunity for both discipleship and fellowship. During 2016-2017 there are five dinner groups meeting each with between six and nine members. A dinner every couple of months ensures that each participant/couple has the opportunity to host during the year. Any church members, including new members, are most welcome to join.  Please contact Katie Westerbeck at katielouise.dawson@gmail.com or 215- 794-2816.

Flying Solo

Myrt Schwebel, 215-345-9034 schwebel555@comcast.net

The Flying Solo Group is a social group for single, widowed and divorced women who want the activity and fellowship offered by a group of like women. We meet once or twice per month during Spring, Summer, and Fall, and once per month during the Winter. We also help and support each other whenever needed. We have many activities including but not limited to: trips to sculpture gardens, flower gardens, plays, tea houses, playing dominoes and other games, dinners, movies and many other activities. We have also done small outreach projects such as Mother’s Day bags for the residents of A Woman’s Place. The church office usually has a schedule of our plans, or you may call the above number to have a schedule mailed to you. We welcome anyone who would like to join us.

Lenten Soup Suppers

DUMCrecept2@aol.com

Each year we begin our observation of Lent by hosting a series of Soup Suppers. Beginning with Ash Wednesday and continuing for the following five weeks, we gather for a simple meal of soup and bread, then join together in the sanctuary for worship. It takes the help of many volunteers to make this happen by providing pots of soup, helping with the set-up, serving, or cleaning-up. All church members and friends are invited to join us as we prepare our hearts and minds for the Easter season.
